We’ve had hot weather in the UK for a good couple of weeks now, and while in some parts of Britain the temperature has started to cool a little, it’s still unbearable for babies and toddlers. We are not fully in to the summer season yet, and so things are set to get a whole lot worse because you might have already found that keeping your baby or toddler cool is an ongoing job.

You really have to feel sorry for people with younger kids, as they are unable to tell you just how hot and bothered they are – although the crying and whinging is a pretty good sign that they are just not that comfortable. However, there are plenty of ways to help keep your child cool, you just have to go that extra mile to make them as comfortable as you can.

One of the quickest and cheapest ways is to purchase a clip-on fan, which can be purchased at B&M or Home Bargains, but failing that, then you could pay that bit extra and get one from John Lewis.

Another way is to keep offering them food or drink that will help to cool your baby or toddler down, such as this Pack of four Nuby Garden Fresh Fruitsicles Frozen Purees Moulds, which is great for making fresh puree popsicles at home.

Some parents change how they dress their little ones, such as putting them in a baby grow at night, but no vest – although with the temperature being this high, that might still be too hot, and so you just have to gauge how your baby feels. You might even find it better to dress them in just a t-shirt and nappy at night.

Using a black-out blind is also a great idea because it will help to cool the room down. You can also have a room fan on in the room, and put a bottle of iced water behind the fan and so it will help to reduce the temperature of the room.
